Halotherapy
Located in both the Glacier Contrast and Frost Locker Rooms
Seasonal allergies, urban air, everyday stress—your lungs need relief. Step into our softly lit Halotherapy; microscopic salt particles cleanse airways, calm skin, and melt tension, so you leave breathing deeper and feeling lighter.
What is Halotherapy?
Salt chamber therapy, or halotherapy, disperses pharmaceutical‑grade salt into a controlled room. When inhaled, dry salt can thin mucus, reduce certain bacteria, and soothe irritated skin—mimicking the microclimate of therapeutic salt caves.
the most frequently asked Halo Therapy questions
How does halo therapy work?
At Elysian Institute, our Halotherapy sessions take place in a special room where medical-grade salt is gently dispersed into the air using a machine called a halogenerator. As you relax and breathe in the tiny salt particles, they travel through your airways and settle on your skin. Salt is naturally anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and helps loosen mucus. This can support easier breathing, soothe irritated airways, and help clear toxins from the lungs and sinuses. It may also improve skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis by calming inflammation and reducing bacteria on the skin’s surface. All you have to do is sit back, relax, and breathe—your body does the rest.
Are there any side effects?
Salt therapy is generally very safe and well tolerated, especially since it uses natural, drug-free ingredients. However, some people may notice mild, temporary effects such as:
- A slight cough or throat tickle (as mucus starts to break up)
- Runny nose or sinus drainage
- Mild skin dryness or irritation
- Feeling a little thirstier than usual
These responses are usually short-lived and simply mean your body is adjusting. If you have any health concerns or specific conditions, we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider beforehand. You’re also welcome to talk with our Elysian Institute staff—we’re here to answer questions and help guide your experience.
How frequently do I need salt therapy?
How often you should do Halotherapy depends on your wellness goals and health needs. Some people come just once or twice a week for general relaxation, skin health, or seasonal allergy support. Others with ongoing respiratory concerns—like asthma, sinus issues, or chronic congestion—may benefit from more frequent sessions, such as 2–3 times per week during flare-ups. Halotherapy works best when done consistently over time. Our team at the Elysian Institute can help you create a schedule that fits your goals and lifestyle.
